Getting Started

From install to the open road — connect your phone, check the input, and set up your game in one click.

SteerWave’s interface is currently in Simplified Chinese. Button names below are translated, with the on-screen Chinese label in parentheses.

What you need

  • An iPhone running iOS 17 or later
  • A 64-bit Windows 10 or Windows 11 PC
  • Your phone and PC on the same local network (the same Wi‑Fi, or the PC wired to the same router)

Step 1: Connect your phone

  1. Download the Windows app, extract the whole archive, and open SteerWave.exe. No .NET or other runtime install is needed. Closing the window keeps it running in the system tray.
  2. On your PC, click Show Pairing Code (显示配对二维码). On your iPhone, open SteerWave and tap Scan to Connect (扫码连接电脑). Allow camera and local network access when asked.
  3. Once the scan succeeds, SteerWave connects and remembers the PC. Next time, just tap Connect to This PC (连接这台电脑).

If it can’t connect, both sides tell you why: the phone checks local network permission, Wi‑Fi, and whether it is on the PC’s network; the PC checks whether Windows Firewall lets the phone in. Follow the prompt, or see Connection & FAQ.

Step 2: Check the phone input

  1. On your phone, tap Start Driving (进入驾驶), hold it sideways and level, tap Recenter (校准回正), then Enable Control (启用控制).
  2. Turn the phone, then press the throttle and the brake. The PC ticks steering, throttle and brake (转向、油门、刹车) one by one. This check only appears the first time.

This only proves the phone reaches the PC; nothing is sent to a game yet.

Step 3: Set up your game

  1. Save and quit the game first. The PC lists the games it found, each marked wheel mode (方向盘模式) or gamepad mode (手柄模式). Games it couldn’t find sit under Games not found (未找到的游戏) at the bottom, where you can pick the install folder.
  2. Click Set Up (一键配置) next to your game. If a virtual controller component is needed, it is installed after one Windows permission prompt. For Euro Truck Simulator 2 and American Truck Simulator, steering and separate throttle and brake axes are set for you, after backing up the original settings.
  3. Once it shows ✓ Configured (已配置), just open the game.

For a game that isn’t listed, go to Settings → Game compatibility → Control mode (设置 → 游戏兼容 → 控制方式) on the PC, choose gamepad or joystick, and bind the three axes in the game’s controller settings.

For safety, control is never enabled automatically — not after scanning, entering the driving screen, or reconnecting. You always tap Enable Control yourself.

  • Set the game’s steering dead zone to 0 and keep its response curve linear. Let the phone handle the feel, otherwise the two curves stack.
  • Turn off combined pedals or half-axis options so throttle and brake use separate axes.
  • Turn off force feedback. SteerWave does not send rumble back to the phone yet.
  • Keep using the keyboard for gears, handbrake and menus. In Euro Truck Simulator 2 and American Truck Simulator you can also use the in-app panel for indicators, camera, parking brake and more; keys follow each game’s own settings.

Try it without a PC

Tap Try It First (先体验手感) on the home screen to test steering and pedals offline. Nothing is sent to your PC.
